LAHORE: Representatives of the four provincial revenue
collection authorities dealing with the sales tax on services agreed on Friday
to resolve the issues of double taxation, input verification and tax adjustments.
The officials discussed the ways to improve tax administration
and maximise the provincial sales tax collection in a meeting at the
headquarters of the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA).
Chairpersons of the four provincial tax collection bodies will
attend the next meeting, which will take place on March 6.
An official told Dawn that the meeting participants decided to
focus on taxpayers’ facilitation, data sharing and conflict resolution.
He said the issue of double taxation is hurting the business
community while a lack of coordination among the four bodies is depriving the
provincial kitties of revenues.
The participants also shared with each other the facts and
figures about those taxpayers that operate across the country and mislead tax
collectors.
