Sindh governor’s help sought against tax harassment

KARACHI: The business community has sought Sindh governor’s help in federal tax related matters and excessive discretionary powers used by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) against industry and trade.

The governor has been informed that unnecessary raids were being conducted to harass businessmen and industrialists, and the situation has terribly shattered the confidence of the entire business community.
According to a statement issued by the KCCI, the governor assured the business community that a meeting between KCCI and FBR chairman along with relevant officials would be called soon at the Governor House to resolve the issues.
The delegation of KCCI comprised of Businessmen Group vice chairman Tahir Khaliq, KCCI president Shamim Ahmed Firpo, KCCI senior vice president Asif Nisar, and other office bearers.
KCCI delegation also invited Governor Sindh to inaugurate Karachi Chamber’s 14th My Karachi Oasis of Harmony Exhibition scheduled to start at the Expo Centre from April 7, 2017.
